PORT OF CORPUS TO EXTEND SHIP CHANNEL

CORPUS CHRISTI (Corpus Christi Caller-Times) – After more than a decade of planning and looking for funding, the Port of Corpus Christi can now extend the ship channel to an area proposed for the La Quinta trade gateway.

The project received $58.5 million in federal funding to go with $15 million already set aside. The long-awaited project could be finished by the end of 2012.

This extension is needed so the port can develop the trade gateway, which will include a multipurpose dock and container facility.
